Edward J. Recktenwald

South Corning, NY - Edward J. Recktenwald of Caton Rd., South Corning passed away surrounded by his children.

Ed was born July 29, 1938, in Chicago, IL the son of Lambert and Marie Recktenwald.  He was predeceased by his father in 1949, his mother in 1991, sister-in-law, Geraldine Recktenwald in 1998 and his brother-in-law, Richard Dean in 2011

He was a graduate of CFA Class of 1956 and later earned his Associates in Applied Science from CCC in June of 1974.  He retired from the lumber business in 2012, having worked for several lumber Companies in the area such as Kaprals, Wickes Lumber and Corning Building Company.

He was a member of the CFA Alumni Association and enjoyed setting up monthly luncheons for his local classmates for several years.

Ed dedicated his life and a few gray hairs to raising his 3 children and continuing to worry about them daily after they grew and left home.

He is survived by his 3 children, Michael (Crystal) Recktenwald of Clayton, NC, Peter Recktenwald of Rossville, GA and Sarah (Greg) Golder of Corning, NY; his brother, Lawrence Recktenwald of Albaqurce, NM and his sister, Kathleen Dean of Deerfield, IL; 6 Grandchildren, Katherine (Mike) Hine of Clayton, NC, Mathew Recktenwald of Clayton, NC, Joseph Recktenwald of Painted POst, NY, Korey Starnes of Rossville, GA, Carrie and Hannah Golder of Corning, NY; 5 Great Grandchildren and 3 nephews.

 The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Sunday, September 10, 2017, from 5-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, September 11, 2017, at St. Mary's Church, Corning.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
