Clyde L. Rathmann

Clyde L. Rathmann, 93, of Wilmington, DE, formerly of Corning, died March 11, 2019 at home. 

Clyde was born January 11, 1926 in Chicago, IL, the son of Paul and Ella (Schulz) Rathmann.  He moved to Kenmore, NY where he graduated from high school in January 1944. 

In March 1944, Clyde joined the US Army and served two years during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. After the war, Clyde joined the freshman class at Syracuse University and graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering. 

Clyde was employed by Corning Inc. from 1950-1987, and independently as a stock broker from 1987-2005. 

Clyde was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, Toastmasters Club, Masonic Lodge of Corning (32nd degree Mason), Kiwanis Club, Corning Methodist Church, and Keuka Yacht Club. 

Clyde enjoyed gardening, woodworking, radio control model airplanes, financial planning, stamp collecting, genealogy, study of German language, international travel, and wine making.  

Clyde is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Rathmann, son Mark Rathmann (Shelly), daughter Carol Simon (Paul), and four grandchildren, Sarah, Jeffrey, Alan and Kaitlyn. 

A service with military honors will be held 1 pm Friday, March 15, 2019 at Bath National Cemetery.
